Keeping his head down and turning up his collar so as to avoid recognition, Sherlock strolled down Baker Street towards the familiar door labeled with the numbers 221B. He paused in front of it, wondering if this was perhaps not the best idea. No, he had to do this.
Sherlock took a deep breath and rang the bell. Luckily it was John, and not Mrs. Hudson who answered the door.
“John, this may come as a surprise to you, but I’m not actually dead.”
John stared blankly at Sherlock for a few seconds before closing and opening the door again. Sherlock prepared for the inevitable punch that would follow. What did follow came as a complete surprise and was the opposite of what he expected.
John pulled Sherlock into a kiss that would have lasted longer had he been prepared and taken a breath beforehand. When they pulled away, that was when Sherlock received the punch he had been expecting.
