Long, long ago, when the Earth was still new, Crow was white and Seagull was black. Seagull was greedy and selfish, and envious of Crow’s white feathers, and Crow of Seagull’s. However, Crow didn’t like to be rude, and he never liked to steal.
One night, Seagull had an idea. He got up and flew to Crow’s house, but Crow was still awake, so Seagull waited for the fire to go out.
When it did, Seagull crept into the house and next to Crow’s bed. One by one, Seagull plucked out each and every one of Crow’s beautiful feathers. He then plucked out each of his own, and put them on Crow, who started to stir. Seagull took the white feathers and hurried home.
In his own house, Seagull poked the beautiful down into his own skin.
The next day, Crow noticed the color difference, and became angry at Seagull. Into the water Crow pushed Seagull, but Seagull couldn’t swim, and he wasn’t used to his new feathers. However, he soon was, and he was back in the air as well. Seagull decided to stay around the water in order to be away from Crow. And from then on, Crow never took his feathers back, and Seagull always stayed by sea.
